How Many IPTV Connections Do You Need?
By the Zorba IPTV team · Updated
Quick answer
One IPTV connection lets one device stream at a time. Count the most screens your household will watch on at the same moment: that number is how many connections you need. Zorba IPTV offers plans with 1 to 5 connections.
What counts as a connection
A connection is one active stream. If your TV is playing a channel and your phone is playing a film at the same time, that's two connections in use.
Installing the app on a device doesn't use a connection. Only devices that are playing something at that moment count, so you can set up more devices than you have connections, as long as they don't all watch at once.
Working out your number
Think about your busiest evening, then count the screens in use at the same time. Some examples:
- One person, one TV: 1 connection.
- A couple watching the living-room TV, one person sometimes on a phone: 2 connections.
- A family with a living-room TV, a bedroom TV and two teenagers on tablets: 4 connections.
- A family that also watches in a kitchen or on a laptop: 5 connections.
What happens if you go over the limit
Most providers stop the extra stream or show an error on the device that started last. Some services suspend accounts that regularly exceed their limit, so it's worth choosing a plan with enough connections from the start.
Don't forget your internet speed
Each extra stream also needs bandwidth. Five HD streams at once need roughly five times the speed of one. If streams buffer when several people are watching, the internet connection is a more likely cause than the IPTV service.
